Here in the ISL home blog we are specifically talking about when inertia prevents us from our reaching business goals.
The research I did for my personal blog helped me discover that mental plateaus are likely to appear in any endeavor we are putting a lot of effort into. When this inevitability happens, some may say we are stuck! Whereas, I prefer to say we are taking a breather so we can gain insight from our experience. If we nurture this process we can be more open to new opportunities we overlooked or be less resistant to change.
One antidote to this mindset that gets in the way of us moving forward is simply, clearing out the files and re-organizing the office. I have found this is a huge step in opening up our thinking so that we can a have fresh start. Insert here Newton's second Law of Motion, "Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass (of the object being accelerated) the greater the amount of force needed (to accelerate the object)." In this instance you are the "mass" and your will is the "force!"
When I was practicing as a CPA in New York the busyness of the long tax season would set the stage for files to be bulging from a whole year’s worth of information, the computer files needed to zipped, condensed and defragged; and the “to –do” list needed to be revitalized and re- prioritized. I developed the habit of performing this re-organizing and re-vitalizing routine before leaving for my annual post-tax season vacation, that way when I came back from vacation the files we slimmed down to fighting weight, the computer was lightening fast and organized; and the “to-do” list was culled of the things I wished I could do.
Just thinking about organizing this clean up and clear out effort can have a freeing affect on us. If you need some zip or revitalization in your business try this clean up and clear out so you can make room for new opportunities to come your way. I have always believed that when we have clutter around us
we are blocking potential opportunities from coming our way. Remember Newton's third Law of Motion "For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action." Good Luck!
